Swahili day-naming is a real and systematic practice, described in full on the page for Hamisi. Jumanne is worth a page of its own because of how the word is built. Five of the seven Swahili weekdays are the noun juma welded to a Bantu numeral: Jumamosi is week-one for Saturday, Jumapili week-two for Sunday, Jumatatu week-three for Monday, Jumanne week-four for Tuesday, Jumatano week-five for Wednesday. Thursday and Friday break the pattern and keep their Arabic names outright, Alhamisi from al-khamis and Ijumaa from al-jum'a. So the counting stops precisely where the borrowing takes over.
There is a wrinkle worth knowing, because it looks like an error and is not. Arabic numbers its week from Sunday, which makes Tuesday the third day; Swahili makes Tuesday the fourth. Every Swahili numeral therefore sits one step ahead of its Arabic model, which produces the odd spectacle of Wednesday being called five while Thursday, borrowed whole, is called the fifth. The usual explanation is that the Swahili day turns over at sunset rather than at midnight, so the reckoning slides forward by one and Saturday takes the first slot.
