Trace Selemani backwards and you cross three languages. Hebrew Shlomo, built on shalom, produced Greek and Latin Solomon in Christian use and Arabic Sulaymān in Muslim use. Swahili then took the Arabic form and rebuilt it to its own measure: the opening vowel opens to e, the stress shifts to the penultimate syllable as Swahili stress always does, and the final n picks up a vowel. Four Arabic syllables, four Swahili ones, and a name that no longer sounds borrowed.
