History & meaning
서 is a quiet syllable with a good set of characters behind it. 瑞 is the pick most parents want: an auspicious sign, the kind of omen that opens a reign well. 序 is order and sequence, the preface to a book. 舒 means to unfold or to be at ease. None of these is loud, and that is the point — Junseo belongs to a shift in Korean taste that happened within living memory. Boys born in the 1960s and 1970s got names built on closed, consonant-heavy syllables: Byeong-cheol, Yeong-sik, Chang-ho. Their grandchildren get open vowels and liquid endings — 서, 우, 준, 윤 — names that sound gentler on purpose.
Junseo rode that wave hard. It barely existed as a given name before the turn of the century and then climbed to the top of the newborn registry within a decade, alongside Seojun, Hajun and Doyun. Seojun is the mirror image and just as current. Yejun keeps the 준 ending with a softer opening. Doyun belongs to exactly the same modern wave and avoids the 俊 entirely.
