Igbo builds possession by word order: put the thing first and its owner second, and you are done — no preposition, no case ending. Obi nna is heart-of-father, and it compresses to Obinna. Once you can see that joint you can see the whole shelf it comes from, because Igbo swaps the first element and keeps the second: ike nna gives Ikenna, the father's strength; uche nna gives Uchenna, the father's mind; ugo nna gives Ugonna, the father's eagle. Change the second element instead and you get Obinne, the mother's heart, which is the same name for a differently placed child.
What the sentence claims is affection, and it is claimed from the father's side, which is the part English glosses tend to soften into a vague "beloved". A boy named Obinna is being told, in public and permanently, that his father's heart is where he is. Families sometimes read a second layer into it — the father returning, in the way Nnamdi says outright — but the plain reading is the warm one, and it is the one most parents mean. Obiora keeps the same first element and hands the heart to the whole community instead of one man. Ikenna is the sibling name if you want strength rather than affection. And Obi is simply the short form, given complete and on its own.
